Spring Break 2016

Another fantastic vacation has come to an end. Not only was the place we visited, beautiful, the kids also stayed healthy for once! Can you believe it!? 😀
Now, a little about our trip.. We visited Glacier, Washington which is located in Northern Washington near the Canadian border. Have you heard of it? Neither did I, but I am sure glad we came upon this little mountain town.
Our resort is located along the Nooksack Rover in an old growth forest. There is no cell phone coverage, so it felt completely serene to somewhat escape from the daily stressors that can come from cell phones and modern technology. We definitely recommend doing that from time to time.
Our friends Matt and Angie came to join us the first couple days with Angie's daughter Haley. We played games, downed some Mt.Baker moonshine while all the kids played together.
Later on Kasey's parents joined us after Matt and Angie had to head home.. We had a lot of outdoor adventures, which included heading to Mt. Baker. This mountain is amazing! You feel like you are in the Swiss Alps when staring up at this gorgeous mountain. This area is very secluded and doesn't get the traffic like Mt. Hood gets, so it's a great place to come skiing.
The two hikes we did was the Excelsior trail and Nooksack Falls trail. Excelsior felt like you were in an enchanted forest, but was very difficult and not kid friendly so, we didn't finish it. The Nooksack Waterfall was very cool, but terrifying as they tell you to be careful and nearly ten people have died there.. But, it was fenced off pretty good, you just gotta watch your kids and not do anything dumb like climbing over the fence to get a better view.
Currently the family is sleeping while I am enjoying listening to the river go by on this very warm spring day. We can't wait for our next weekend getaway to Pacific City, Oregon next month. Until next time
