Palm Springs Day Trip

Image
We often visit Palm Springs, but on this recent trip, we got to visit and discover a place where you can get away from the desert, cool down and connect with nature. The Palm Springs aerial tramway takes you to the of Mt. Jacinto. Yes, 8000 feet above the desert, where the landscape becomes almost alpine like with different types of pines and streams. It is a great getaway to cool down (up to 30 degrees cooler) and relax. Is it a big tourist spot? Yes. But it is very well organized so there is minimal wait times when riding the tram. The area is so large, that we didn't even have time to do all the hikes that are available on top of the peak. Make sure to pack water, snacks or even a little to enjoy!

McCall, Idaho

We had the opportunity to visit McCall, Idaho. What a beautiful town! Tucked in the Payette National Forest, it's a quaint city, that is perfect for the family. If you love the outdoors, being disconnected and getting away from it all, I highly recommend visiting this town. It's a popular travel spot within Idaho, but it is not known if you are not from the state itself. In the summer, the town is booming with water sports ( the lake is actually pretty warm, even though the city is at 5,000 feet) In the winter, it is a popular destination for skiing. When there, visit the downtown area with great restaurants, an ice rink, shops and most importantly a place called "Ice Cream Alley". Every childs dream, right?

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA

Image
I am back! After having another baby, I took sometime off from journaling about our travels. This last weekend, my friends and I visited Victoria Canada for the first time What a beautiful town! We rode on the ferry from Port Angeles, Washington. It was a lovely 1.5 hour ride with a view of cute seals! Just a warning, if you do get seasick, you may want to be prepared for that. It was a pretty rocky ride. We stayed at the Huntingdon Manor, which was a cute, old-fashioned type of hotel. Great service and cute rooms! They are not large rooms, but perfect for a weekend getaway. The hotel even has an afternoon tea option, which we did not get to try, but that is the goal next time we visit. I highly recommend this hotel as it is centrally located to everything in the city. We enjoyed the nightlife and also had a delicious brunch at Jam. It was a huge wait, but if you have the time, GO. The food was well worth the wait! We also got to enjoy Canada Day by watching fireworks at t...

Spring Break 2016

Another fantastic vacation has come to an end. Not only was the place we visited, beautiful, the kids also stayed healthy for once! Can you believe it!? 😀 Now, a little about our trip.. We visited Glacier, Washington which is located in Northern Washington near the Canadian border. Have you heard of it? Neither did I, but I am sure glad we came upon this little mountain town. Our resort is located along the Nooksack Rover in an old growth forest. There is no cell phone coverage, so it felt completely serene to somewhat escape from the daily stressors that can come from cell phones and modern technology. We definitely recommend doing that from time to time. Our friends Matt and Angie came to join us the first couple days with Angie's daughter Haley. We played games, downed some Mt.Baker moonshine while all the kids played together. Later on Kasey's parents joined us after Matt and Angie had to head home.. We had a lot of outdoor adventures, which included heading to Mt. Bak...

Crooked River Ranch Cabins

Located in beautiful Crooked River, Oregon, these quaint cabins make a fun weekend getaway.  This is our third time here. This time it was not as relaxing since we had 2 sick kiddos, even with that, the scenery made it worth it. The kids played outside, especially golf and we also looked for wildlife. No luck this time though. We want to come back this summer in the warm weather and get a large cabin to take advantage of the swimming and golf, so hopefully we get to this summer!

Arizona adventures continued. .

Image
Tonight we went to the Arizona Diamondback game vs. San Francisco Giants. It was Jameson's first game (age 2). The field was very kid friendly and has a ton of activities for kids and toddlers for when the kids get squirmy and don't want to sit anymore. They had a batting cage and playground and Jameson loved it! Couldn't keep him away! The prices of concessions were surprisingly cheap compared to Portland sports, which made it a fun and affordable family activity in Arizona. As for the game the Giants would  6-5 in the bottom of 12th. No, we did not stay the whole time! :)

Arizona vacation

Image
Greetings from Arizona!  My husband  and I have always wanted to start a blog to document our journeys. The more we travel, the more we start to forget the small details of our vacations. Then, sitting here on the patio this evening, I started to forget what we did a few days ago, so I thought I better get going on this tonight! We are currently staying at the Sheraton Desert Oasis. It's a great hotel with great service! So far we have swam everyday, we think the kids might  be even getting sick of it. 😅We have also been enjoying time with our family  (my parents and grandparents ). It's the first time our kids have met their great-grandparents on my side of the family. We have had fun celebrating my 30th birthday with some cake and by going out to eat. Earlier in the week we went to the Mccormick Railroad Park, which the kids went on a train ride and on the carousel. It's a great spot to visit for kids and a great activity for them! 🎠We definitely recommend it!...
